Our Purpose

About Us.

The Himalayan Diversity Institute was founded in 2025 as a USA-registered charity501(c)(3), by Co-Directors Yankee Modi (Secretary) and Mark W. Post (President).

Our mission is to support sustainability of cultural, linguistic, and ecological diversity in the Himalayan region, through research, training, and education.

What We Do.

We do this by directly collaborating with Himalayan community members and partner organizations to enable documentation, research and education around the extraordinary and underappreciated cultural-linguistic diversity that exists in the Himalayan region, primarily through our long standing Centre for Cultural-Linguistic Diversity (Eastern Himalaya) project.
